While getting bikini or Brazilian waxing is not one of our favorite things to do, it is a necessary evil. We want to be as clean and fresh as possible all year round with a well kept Brazilian. All of our women’s waxing services are done with great care to ensure the comfort of our clients.
Bare Skin Studio uses only the best waxes that are gentle on the skin and remove the hair as clean as possible. We use more than one type of synthetic hard wax, depending on your hair coarseness and density. With that said, we have a wax for you. We know doing a Brazilian does not rank high on the “Fun List” but we try to make it as pleasurable as possible. Even as professionals, we still ask ourselves why we wax such a sensitive area? Because it is nice to be squeaky clean in such important areas.
A few good reasons to come see us at Bare Skin Studio:
- We are highly experienced in Brazilian waxing. We have years of experience in the esthetics field and/or specifically Brazilian waxing. Everyone on staff is trained extensively before working with a client one on one.
- We are comfortable and confident in performing Brazilian waxes. This translates to you having a comfortable experience. No awkwardness in waxing your nether regions.
- We have a variety of waxes to choose from to customize for your specific hair situation. One wax alone does not work for everyone over their entire body.
- Our technique isn’t a cookie cutter protocol for everyone. We take each client’s hair patterns into consideration and adjust accordingly.
- We never double dip. That means dipping, applying and redipping, contaminating the wax pot with cooties. No matter where you go, make sure a new wax stick is used for every wax pull.
- You are not just a number here. Our staff gets to know who you are and genuinely cares about your well being. We offer a personalized service for each client. This is a very intimate service, clients are not typically fond of exposing their most lady parts to a new person every time they come in. We don’t have a revolving door of staff members. Our staff is happy to be here and works hard at creating an awesome experience for every single client. If you want to see the same esthetician, request her and we will make it happen.
- We take the time to listen and answer questions before we start your service. We book extra time as needed for first time clients. We want you to be comfortable.
- We offer a wide array of skin products and skin care services. Check them out when you come in or try a new service.
Here are some of the most frequently asked questions we get asked about female brazilian waxing:
How bad is this going to hurt?
We wish we could have a tangible answer to this, like it will hurt as much as getting punched in the face but we can’t. Everyone’s pain tolerance is different. Realistically, our bodies are made to handle enough pain to push a watermelon through a straw, so how bad can having a little bit of hair removed from our bits be? Men are bigger babies than women are, yet around here they seem to be okay with getting a male Brazilian wax on the regular. If they can handle it, so can we. We can’t let them win.
What is double dipping?
Double dipping is when an esthetician uses the same wax stick more than once. That means she dips into the wax, uses it to apply the wax on your skin and puts it back into the wax pot contaminating the wax pot with your cooties. What if she pulled a new stick just for you? She probably did the same thing with the last person, yet their cooties are still in the pot too. Wax pots are generally refilled throughout the day and more than one service can be typically done from one wax pot. The wax heater is not hot enough to kill the bacteria and viruses that wax can be contaminated with. No matter where you go, make sure a new wax stick is pulled for every wax pull.
Why do you use gloves while working on me? I don’t have cooties.
We are doing you a favor and ourselves a favor. You may not have cooties, we may not have cooties but you don’t know if the person before you didn’t have cooties. Let’s keep everyone safe here. No Gloves = No Wax Love. Also, we use nitrile gloves for less chance of an allergic reaction.
What is the difference between soft wax and hard wax? Why do you use hard or soft wax on some areas and not others? Why is the type of wax you use on my brazilian wax so important?
Soft wax is an easy spreading wax that is used to cover large areas of the body and removed by a cloth like material. Soft wax attaches to the hair and the skin. While this is fine for large thick skinned areas like your legs, Bare Skin Studio does not use soft wax for your Brazilian wax.
Hard wax is the next generation of wax and makes for a less painful waxing experience. Hard wax is made of synthetic resins that spreads thickly over a small area. The wax shrink wraps around the hair and floats over the skin. When the wax is completely dry, it is removed by pulling the wax quickly from the skin.
Hard wax requires less manipulation and floats over your skin so there is less chance of damage and less overall pain. Soft wax is known to be more aggressive than hard wax. While soft wax is great for large areas like your back, it is too aggressive for delicate areas like your lady parts.
Why is the wax so hot when you apply it?
The skin in the Brazilian area is thinner than other parts of your body, therefore it will feel hotter than other body areas. This is normal. If we have to re-wax the area it is common for the wax to feel warmer on the skin. This is not because the wax is hotter but because the skin is sensitive from the first run of wax. Rest assured we use high quality waxes that are designed to be used in this fashion.
I am on my period, can I still get waxed?
The short answer is, yes.
We will be honest here, it is going to be a little more painful than usual. Just come prepared with a tampon inside. This is not a pad kind of day. It’s not cool if you are bleeding out on the table. We are all big girls here and should know when our period is coming. If you do not want to get waxed while on your period, make sure to cancel with the cancellation policy in mind. Your period is not a valid excuse to cancel an appointment. We have blocked out this time for you and only you.
I am pregnant, can I still get waxed?
Absolutely! What’s funny is that we’ve had a few first time waxers who are pregnant. Their thought is they don’t want a room full of doctors and nurses staring into a bush abyss. The closer you are to your due date, the more sensitive you will be. Think of this as the warm up to the whole pushing a human out your body experience. Some of our pregnant clients also opt for leg waxing since they can’t see their feet anymore. Last thing, our waxes are safe for pregnant women since the waxes do not seep into the skin.
I have an STD or other infection, can I still get a Brazilian wax?
We take any all diseases and infections seriously. We take every precaution to make our services safe for all of our clients and ourselves. If we see an outbreak, obvious signs of infection, cuts, sores or compromised skin we will deny service. As long as your skin is under control, we will all be fine. We would appreciate a heads up. Just let the esthetician know before the start of your service.
I’m a first time waxer and I am scared. Hold me.
It’s going to be okay, darling. We get first timers all the time. We typically book 30 minutes for a female Brazilian wax, even though we don’t need it. This gives us a little extra time to hold your hand and let you breathe in between pulls. No one wants to be rushed during such an important first. If you can’t stomach a full female Brazilian, we can schedule a regular bikini that takes whatever sticks out from your underwear or a skinny bikini which is the bikini lines, the pelvic area while leaving the innards alone. Also remember, the first time is worst time. It only gets easier from there.
I want a landing strip. Can you do any other shapes?
We can leave a landing strip no problem. Unfortunately, we don’t do any of the other fun shapes. Nor will we dye the hair bright red. We’ve been asked before.
Does the Brazilian include the butt crack?
Yes, it does. Typically, we have you kick your legs up. In certain cases we may have you pop up on all fours.
What if I just shaved? Is it going to be too short?
We need at least an ⅛” of an inch of hair to wax. Ideally, a ¼” to ½” of growth. How can you gauge how long that is? Typically, about 2 weeks from the last time you shaved. If it’s longer than that, leave it alone.
Sweet Baby Jesus, I have a scary bush! Should I trim it down?
Generally, the longer the hair is the easier it is to clean up. Having long hair gives the wax more to hold on to. Long hair doesn’t make it more painful. What influences the pain factor is the time between waxes. The more time in between waxes, the more time the hair has time to set roots in the follicle. If you are a virgin waxer, the roots to your hair have had A LOT of time to settle in.
If we need a machete to get to to the innards, we will make that judgment call when you get in. If you trim it up before you come in, you risk the chance that you will cut it too short and we won’t be able to wax it or we will have to wax over an area repeatedly.
How long will the results of a Brazilian wax last?
Generally, the results will last 6 weeks. The first 4 times you come in, we ask that you come in at 6 weeks on the dot (or as close as you can make it). Why? Your hair grows on three different cycles and we are trying to get them all to sync up. The first few times you will have outgrowth in between waxings because the hair is not synced. The goal is to get your hair synced up to where you are clean for 4 weeks and growing out the last 2 weeks to re-wax. The long term goal is to be able to stretch your wax to every 8 weeks. There are cases where the times may be shorter or longer, but this is on a case by case basis. If your hair grows at lightning speed, we would still suggest you wait at least 4 weeks.
OMG! I am coming straight from work/gym? I don’t feel so fresh, what should I do?
We feel ya and we have you covered. We wouldn’t want an esthetician in our most personal space either and wonder if she notices that we don’t smell like unicorn farts. When you book your appointment, you can also request a shower time or you can give us a call the same day and show up 15 minutes before your appointment time. We will make it work.
My Brazilian wax looks so amazing, I am so getting laid tonight!
Hold your horses ladies! We know it looks amazing but hear us out. After a Brazilian wax your skin is going to be a bit tender and more importantly the follicles are going to be wide open. What that means for you is that it is going to be more prone to infection from either bacteria or viruses. We would recommend waiting at least 24 hours before doing anything.
I just got my Brazilian wax done, what else can’t I do?
We would suggest you keep away from hot tubs, oceans, pools, the gym and tanning beds for at least the next 24-48 hours because your skin is wide open to bacteria and your skin is more sensitive to light and can burn a lot easier.
I’m 16, can I come in and get my Brazilian done with you?
Sorry girls, we don’t do Brazilians, Skinny Bikinis or Bikini lines on anyone under 18. If you look under 18, at our discretion we will ask for ID. It’s too much of a liability for us.
While it might be easy just to pop into your local corner nail shop to get waxed, why trust such a sensitive area to just anyone? Have one of our professionals at Bare Skin Studio take care of your most intimate hair removal needs.
